BEIRUT — The roof of a house in Kfar Roummane, in the Nabatieh district of South Lebanon, collapsed Sunday night after it cracked during the earthquake that struck on Feb. 6, the state-run National News Agency reported Monday.
The family living in the house survived the collapse.
The family's mother told the NNA that the house is old and needed "urgent rehabilitation" but they couldn't do any work on it due to the current crisis.
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the southern Turkish town of Nurdagi, was felt across the Middle East region including Lebanon.
After the quake, the president of the Lebanese Association of Properties, Andira al-Zouhairi, warned of the “increased risk of building collapse,” adding that recent harsh weather in Lebanon aggravated the risks.
Following the tremor, some buildings in North Lebanon were evacuated.
