BEIRUT — Members of the Maritime Rescue Unit in the Civil Defense recovered the body of a man who died while fishing at the Tabarja beach in Kesrwan, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the North reported Friday.
Waves had carried the man's body 500 meters from shore. Members of the Civil Defense transferred the body to KMC Hospital in Ghazir, in the presence of competent security services.
Officers also rescued another citizen who had jumped into the water trying to help the drowning man.
The Civil Defense released a statement reminding citizens of the need to adhere to public safety guidelines about the risks of standing near seas and rivers during storms.
