In the eighth parliamentary session, held on Thursday, unsurprisingly failed to elect a new president due to a lack of quorum caused by the withdrawal of the March 8 camp’s MPs. The main candidate of the anti-Hezbollah camp, Zgharta MP Michel Moawad, saw his score dropping from 42 to 37 votes, after losing the support of the Sunni MPs affiliated with Hariri.This number of votes is almost the equivalent to the 36 ballots he obtained in the first session, a score that he managed to improve afterward.This loss of momentum comes at a time when the candidacy of Zgharta Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh, seems to be getting more serious, as he benefits from the as-yet-unofficial support of the powerful Shiite Amal-Hezbollah tandem.The blank vote remains in the leadThe blank vote, on the other hand, continues to be clearly in the lead,...
