BEIRUT — A fire, which broke out in shipping containers at the Port of Beirut on Wednesday at midday, has been brought under control by the Civil Defense, the service announced via Twitter and Facebook.
"A fire broke out in two containers holding car parts and furniture transport tools inside Beirut port. Civil Defense volunteers went to the scene to assist the Beirut Fire Department. The fire has been brought under control and cooling operations are underway," the Civil Defense wrote in its message.

However, it did not release any information about the cause of the blaze.
The Beirut port was devastated on Aug. 4, 2020 when a fire in a warehouse containing large quantities of ammonium nitrate caused an explosion that killed more than 220 people and injured 6,500 others in the capital.
