BEIRUT —Three individuals who were arrested by the Internal Security Forces for alleged drug trafficking, operating primarily in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, confessed that they were run by a dealer who is currently in Georgia, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.

Here's what we know:

    • One of the suspects allegedly had quantities of cocaine and marijuana that he was selling out of his car in Jounieh, while the second was allegedly selling cocaine and marijuana out of his car in Adonis.

    • The third suspect was selling Captagon out of his car in Batroun, and was arrested while in possession of an electronic cigarette that contained cannabis oil.

    • They confessed working for a drug trafficking network run by a person present in Georgia. The detainees have been referred to the judiciary.

    • Just last week, the State security was involved in a case where a Syrian detainee, Bashar Abdel-Saud, was allegedly tortured to death while being held at a regional office of the State Security in Bint Jbeil, South Lebanon. Amnesty International on Tuesday condemned the death of Bashar Abdel-Saud. "It is unacceptable for torture to be continuing to occur in Lebanese detention centers and with such brutality – the authorities must put a stop to it immediately,” Heba Morayef, Amnesty's regional MENA director, was quoted as saying in the Tuesday statement.
