Fighting reignites in Wadi Khaled

BEIRUT — Clashes reignited Wednesday in the Wadi Khaled area of North Lebanon near the Lebanese-Syrian border, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the area reported. On Tuesday, a person was killed and several were injured in the first day of fighting in the area.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to our correspondent, the residents of the area said stray bullets were seen very close to people’s houses and called on the Lebanese Army and security forces to intervene and control the scene.

    • MP Mohamad Sleiman has reportedly contacted the head of the Internal Security Forces Imad Othman and urged him to control the situation and open an investigation into the murder of Diab Khowelid who died yesterday during the clashes, L’Orient Today’s correspondent reported.

    • The clashes started between two public transport drivers and escalated into a fight with knives and sticks. The fight then reportedly devolved into an armed clash between two rival families from nearby localities.
