BEIRUT — Public Works Minister Ali Hamieh on Tuesday announced that bidding for management of Beirut International Airport’s duty free shopping will take place on Thursday, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the NNA, Hamieh said that any company that wishes to bid should contact the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, who are responsible for the matter.
• The minister also said that “whoever has questions should send them in written form in accordance with the formal procedures.”
• According to the Moodie Davitt Report, Phoenicia Aer Rianta Company (PAC) retained the contract in 2017 in the last major tender. At the time, it bid $74 million per year for the business.
• PAC, an alliance between Phoenicia Trading and Aer Rianta International, is bidding again, both partners confirmed to the Moodie Davitt Report.
