L'Orient-Le Jour has learned that the American mediator in the maritime border negotiations, Amos Hochstein, will accompany Joe Biden on his tour of the Middle East and meet again with Israeli officials to discuss the maritime border issue.

When Hezbollah dispatched drones to the Karish field area last Saturday, it reopened discussions on the possibility of an escalation between Lebanon and Israel over the summer. The chain of events goes far beyond Lebanese issues, and even beyond the demarcation of the maritime border, as it is intertwined with three regional developments that could have a strong influence on Lebanon’s fate. The first is the visit next week of United States President Joe Biden to the region, with a trip to Israel and then to Saudi Arabia for an Arab-American summit, one of the objectives of which is to form an anti-Iranian front.
