BEIRUT — Mount Lebanon public prosecutor Ghada Aoun initiated proceedings against Banque du Liban senior counselor and assistant to governor Riad Salameh, Marianne Hoyek, a judicial source confirmed to L’Orient-Le Jour.
Here’s what we know:
• The illicit enrichment cases are tied to the prosecution of Riad Salameh’s brother, Raja, whose release was approved on Tuesday after having been held for a month on suspicion of money laundering.
• Raja Salameh’s detention follows a complaint of illicit enrichment and money laundering brought by the collective “Pioneers of Justice,” on the basis of which Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor Ghada Aoun conducted an investigation leading to his arrest. Raja Salameh is also suspected of involvement in real estate transactions in France in connection with Banque du Liban.
