BEIRUT — Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor Ghada Aoun issued a travel ban Friday against former Bankmed president Mohammad Ahmad Hariri.
Here’s what we know:
• The current president of Bankmed, former minister Raya al-Hassan, was also banned from traveling on March 10. The measures are part of a lawsuit filed by civil society group “the people want to reform the system” against numerous banks and the Association of Banks in Lebanon, accusing them of “breach of trust and fraud” against depositors.
• The travel ban is the latest in a series of measures Aoun has taken against the heads of six banks — Bankmed, SGBL, BLOM, Bank of Beirut, Bank Audi and Creditbank.
