BEIRUT — Hezbollah Thursday praised “the achievement of the Internal Security Forces and its information branch in foiling a dangerous plan from the terrorist Wahabi organization Daesh (Islamic State) against our honorable people of [Beirut’s] southern suburbs.”

Here’s what we know:

    • On Wednesday, Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced that the ISF foiled plans by militants linked to Daesh to carry out three suicide attacks in Beirut's southern suburbs.

    • “This [accomplishment] adds to the achievement of revealing security networks that work for the Zionist enemy tasked with spying on the resistance and its strength,” Hezbollah said in a statement, in reference to the security forces bust of at least 17 suspected Israeli spy networks last month, in one of the largest nationwide intelligence crackdowns in recent years.

    • Hezbollah also called for “awareness and cautiousness, the continuations of excellent efforts and the increase of coordination between different branches of security forces in order not to allow the enemy to benefit from any possible gap amid the current economic and social situation.”
