BEIRUT — The Lebanese Forces on Saturday announced that MP Pierre Bou Assi would be seeking reelection from Baaba in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for May 15.
Here’s what we know:
• In a speech Saturday, Samir Geagea said that Bou Assi — who served as social affairs minister from 2016 to 2019 — would be seeking to hold onto his seat in parliament, which he won for the first time in 2018.
• On Jan. 31,the LF announced that former Information Minister Melhem Riachi would be seeking a seat in the Metn, while it would support “independent candidate” Razi al-Hajj, who is running in the same district.
• The LF bas also unveiled its candidates in Zahle, amid a growing slew of announcements of candidates for parliament from Lebanon’s traditional parties and independent groups.
