BEIRUT – Protesters blocked the Tripoli-Deir Aammar highway on Wednesday morning in both directions, reports our correspondent in the area.
Here’s what we know:
• Protestors gathered in front of Tripoli's oil facilities to decry the continuous power cuts facing Lebanon.
• An average of only two hours of electricity per day are supplied by Electricité du Liban to Lebanese homes. Yesterday, the cabinet tasked Energy Minister Walid Fayad with drawing up a plan to study increasing tariffs on electricity in order to bolster the failing public utility.
