BEIRUT — State telecoms provider Ogero announced Wednesday a failure in the fiber optic cables connecting the offices of Tripoli-Mina-Batroun to those of Tripoli-Chekka in North Lebanon that caused a shutdown of telecoms services in these regions and many neighboring localities.
Here's what we know:
• Ogero technical teams are trying to repair the failure as quickly as possible, the company announced in a tweet. The causes of this malfunction are still unclear.
• Ogero's services have been repeatedly interrupted in many areas in recent months, especially due to fuel shortages and generator overloads in a Lebanon in the midst of the country's economic collapse.
