BEIRUT — The Health Ministry announced Wednesday the first third-dose vaccine marathon in Lebanon for people aged 50 and older with the goal of reinforcing their immune system against “COVID-19 and its variants.”
Here’s what we know:
• The ministry said the Pfizer marathon will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a number of centers accredited by the Health Ministry.
• Daily COVID-19 numbers have been on the rise over the past week, reaching 1,618 cases on Tuesday. The number of people in intensive care reached 233 the same day.
• A health committee meeting will take place today to discuss precautionary measures and potential travel restrictions due to the emergence of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.
