BEIRUT — The Israeli army shelled Lebanon on Wednesday in response to three rockets allegedly fired from Lebanon earlier today, with no casualties reported so far.

Here’s what we know:

    • Israeli artillery shells have landed in Sahel al Khiam, Kfar Shuba and Ibl al-Saqi, a correspondent for our sister publication L’Orient-Le Jour reported. This follows an initial round of Israeli shelling earlier today.

    • The Israeli shelling has caused wildfires near Ibl al-Saqi and Rashaya Fawqar, local media report.

    • Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee wrote on Twitter that the second wave of shelling was in response to RPG fire from Lebanon into the occupied Palestine land earlier today.

    • Earlier in the day, the Israeli military reported via Twitter that three missiles had been fired from Lebanon toward Palestine, with one landing inside the Lebanese territory.

    • UNIFIL’s head of mission urged all parties to “cease fire and to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalation.”

    • No group has claimed responsibility yet for the alleged rocket fire from Lebanon earlier today.
