A man was executed in Iran for passing information about Iranian missile sites to Israeli intelligence services during the war, the judiciary reported Saturday.
’’The death penalty was carried out against Hossein Pedaran, who had provided the Mossad with information on missile sites in Isfahan province,’’ in central Iran, Mizan, the Iranian judiciary’s news outlet, reported.
The judiciary accused Pedaran of ‘‘espionage and intelligence cooperation’’ on behalf of Israel but did not provide information about the date of his arrest or his trial. It said the death sentence had been ‘‘confirmed by the Supreme Court.’’ The case had not previously been reported by Iranian media.
Iran was attacked twice, first in June 2025 by Israel and again in late February 2026 by a U.S.-Israeli coalition. Since then, arrests and executions have increased in the country in connection with the conflict as well as protests earlier this year.
During the war that began at the start of the year, numerous Iranian missile sites were bombed. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and dozens of high-ranking military commanders were also killed. Isfahan province, which is also home to Iranian nuclear sites, was among the hardest-hit regions.
In August, the judiciary announced the execution of two men accused of ‘‘passing the coordinates of sensitive military and security sites’’ to Israel.
Iran has the second-highest number of executions in the world after China, according to human rights groups.
