The sixth commemoration of the double explosion at the Beirut Port, which killed more than 235 people and injured over 7,000 in 2020, looked different from the previous five. While the rituals remained largely the same and the emotion was just as palpable, this year’s somber anniversary came with a promise: the publication of the indictment within 60 to 90 days, as Justice Minister Adel Nassar previously announced. There was another major development as well: the dismissal of complaints filed by those named in the investigation against the judge leading the case, clearing the way for justice to finally be served.
