BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army carried out a series of raids at dawn Thursday in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, in pursuit of individuals wanted by the judiciary, our northern Lebanon correspondent reported. Two people accused of burglaries and using firearms in the Abi Samra, Shelfeh and Shok neighborhoods were arrested after raids on their homes.
On Wednesday evening, army units set up checkpoints in various areas of northern Lebanon, including Tripoli, searching vehicles and detaining several suspects as part of security measures put in place by the authorities following several incidents and shootings in the region in recent days.
An altercation took place Wednesday between young people from two families on Mina Road in Tripoli. Shots were reported, but there were no casualties. Law enforcement is still searching for the shooters, our correspondent said.
