Shenzhen, the Chinese metropolis bordering Hong Kong, could soon host what its developers describe as the world’s first fully automated hotel, where robots would handle every service. It is set to open in 2027.The project was unveiled in early June by Chinese companies Pudu Robotics and Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development Co. Ltd. (Shenzhen CITD). It plans to build the hotel, whose name was not revealed, on an artificial island at the western end of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the vast network of bridges and tunnels spanning the Pearl River Delta that opened last December.
