A man was arrested in Akkar al-Atika on Friday, less than an hour after allegedly shooting and killing his wife in the town of Halba, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) said in a statement Monday.
According to the ISF’s Public Relations Division, the victim, identified as H. M., born in 1986, was admitted to a hospital in Halba on July 3 with a gunshot wound to her abdomen from a hunting rifle. She later died from her injuries.
The ISF said its Information Branch launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the killing and identify the perpetrator. Following inquiries and surveillance operations, investigators suspected the victim’s husband, K. M., born in 1974, of carrying out the shooting.
A patrol from the Information Branch later located the suspect’s hiding place in Akkar al-Atika, where he was arrested, the statement said.
During questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to shooting his wife following a family dispute, according to the ISF.
Legal procedures were taken against him, and he was referred to the relevant judicial authorities, the statement added.
