At least three Palestinians, including an 8-year-old girl, were killed Sunday by Israeli fire in the Gaza Strip, where violence has continued despite the October 2025 cease-fire, according to local rescue workers.
According to Palestinian sources cited by Al Jazeera, the girl, Tala Joumaa Mohammad Abou Matar, was killed in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza. She later died of her wounds at al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
At least two other people were killed and several others wounded in an Israeli drone strike on the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent, also cited by Al Jazeera. Witnesses told Reuters the site was struck by three Israeli missiles.
Despite a cease-fire announced on Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli strikes and gunfire have continued, killing at least 1,098 Palestinians and wounding 3,535 others, according to the latest figures released by Gaza's Health Ministry.
In total, Israel has killed at least 73,221 Palestinians and wounded 173,643 since the start of Israel's war in Gaza, where the Israeli army occupies nearly 70% of the territory and maintains a blockade on humanitarian aid deliveries.
The latest attacks came as Hamas leaders were in Cairo for talks on implementing the second phase of the plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump for Gaza in October 2025.
According to sources close to the negotiations, the talks are focused primarily on Hamas' disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli troops. However, no significant progress has been reported despite Hamas' announcement last week that it would dissolve its government and administrative bodies to make way for a technocratic committee.
