Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Saturday called on Israel to fully withdraw from Lebanon, as its army continues to occupy dozens of villages in the south of the country despite the framework agreement reached in Washington on June 26, according to local media reports.

The minister stated that his country supported all efforts to facilitate ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that Egypt was consulting daily with the concerned parties. He added that the cease-fire agreement must be implemented and that Israel must fully withdraw from Lebanon.

Lebanon and Israel reached a framework agreement in Washington last Friday aimed at ending the war between Hezbollah and the Jewish state, which continues to occupy a “buffer zone” of more than 600 square kilometers in southern Lebanon, extending up to ten kilometers deep. The text also calls for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from two “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon.
