Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa stated that "the rumors circulating about Syria entering Lebanon are nothing but speculation," emphasizing that "Syria's approach aims to end the war in Lebanon, not to expand it or get involved," according to statements reported Friday by several Lebanese media outlets. These remarks come as U.S. President Donald Trump recently indicated that Syria is prepared to intervene against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In a statement to a delegation from the Damascus campaign, he explained that "the issue of demarcating the border between Syria and Lebanon is not a priority at the moment, given more urgent problems, particularly the situation of some 1.4 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the need to find an adequate mechanism to ensure their return."
