What if the history of south Lebanon were finally told through women’s voices?
Through the stories of eight women from southern Lebanon, Assil Fares and Francesca al-Asmar sketch a different history of the territory, where memory, relationships and daily gestures take precedence over the sole narrative of war.

At 5 p.m., the terrace at T-Marbouta was already starting to fill up. Although the meeting was supposed to begin precisely at that time, Hamra traffic jams had other plans. The Arabic and English editions of the book stood between glasses and open notebooks. Around them mingled women from the South, residents of Beirut, students, researchers, mothers, artists and simply the curious.
