BEIRUT — Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Thursday called for ''destroying 10 buildings in the suburbs of Beirut for every Hezbollah drone'' that attacks Israel.
"For every drone that injures one of our soldiers, destroy one hundred buildings," he added in a message posted on X and reported by the Israeli daily Haaretz. His message came in tribute to Sergeant Rotem Yanai, 20, who was killed Wednesday by a drone explosion in northern Israel, according to the Israeli army.
Despite the cease-fire that took effect on April 17, Israel continues its deadly bombing of Lebanon nearly every day. Hezbollah continues to target Israeli soldiers occupying southern Lebanon as well as northern Israel.
