In a memorandum addressed to Arab and foreign embassies Thursday, Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, accused Israel of repeatedly violating the November 2024 cease-fire agreement with Lebanon and declared it has “no choice” but to resort to “legitimate human right to self-defense."
The bloc said Israel had committed “approximately ten thousand violations” of Lebanese sovereignty since the cease-fire agreement was reached on Nov. 27, 2024, despite what it described as Lebanon’s “strict commitment” to the deal.
It accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking to impose new regional realities “through coercion and domination” and of escalating attacks on Lebanon after “fifteen months of killing, destruction, violations of Lebanese sovereignty.”
The memorandum stated that “all political and diplomatic efforts have failed to stop these Israeli crimes against our country,” adding that the Lebanese government and the committee overseeing implementation of the ceasefire had "deliberately" failed to compel Israel to abide by the agreement.
“Faced with such suffering and with occupation persisting on our land, our people are left with no option but to exercise their legitimate human right to self-defense,” the bloc said.
It further accused Israel of carrying out “premeditated crimes aimed at seizing parts of Lebanese territory,” including “the deliberate killing of civilians, forced displacement of residents, and prevention of their return.” The Israeli army is currently occupying dozens of villages in southern Lebanon and demolishing entire neighborhoods in its so-called "buffer zone," as it commits daily deadly air and drone strikes.
The latest figures released by Lebanon's Health Ministry show that Israeli attacks have killed at least 3,089 people and wounded at least 9,397 others in Lebanon since the full-blown war on Lebanon resumed on March 2.
Although Hezbollah had refrained from firing at Israel during the vast majority of the cease-fire from November 2024 until early March 2026, it carried out an attack on the night of March 2 that marked the resumption of clashes with the Israeli army. Since the beginning of the mid-April 2026 truce, the group has continued to claim attacks on a daily basis.
