The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday accused the U.S. of a "flagrant violation" of the cease-fire, following an exchange of strikes between the two countries.
“The action taken last night constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the cease-fire. However, the country’s defense forces dealt a heavy blow to the enemy and repelled its attacks with all their might,” said Esmail Baghai, the ministry’s spokesperson.
The United States said it had “targeted Iranian military installations” on Thursday after several of its ships were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump, however, gave assurances that the cease-fire, which has been in place for a month, remained "in force."
Meanwhile, Baghaei said Tehran is still weighing its answer to the U.S. cease-fire proposal, the Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.
