BEIRUT — Finance Minister Yassine Jaber received Banque du Liban (BDL or central bank) Governor Karim Souhaid for a meeting devoted to the country's financial and monetary situation.
The two senior officials also discussed the results of the Lebanese delegation's visit to Washington during the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, held the previous week, according to the finance ministry statement.
The resumption of hostilities on March 2 between Hezbollah and Israel abruptly halted the slow process initiated by Lebanese authorities concerning the reforms required by the IMF in order to release a financial assistance program to help the country out of the crisis it has faced since 2019.
The country sent a small delegation to take part in the IMF and World Bank spring meetings. The BDL governor, was among those selected for the Washington trip in April 2025 but did not make the journey.
