Israel said Thursday it had "foiled attacks" by Hezbollah against its positions in southern Lebanon, where it continues its invasion and systematic destruction of border villages, claiming as part of this the destruction of "70 infrastructures in one minute" in Bint Jbeil.
In a message on X, the army's Arabic-speaking spokesperson Avichay Adraee said that Brigade 769, operating under the command of Division 91, had foiled 'two attempted attacks prepared by "Hezbollah cells" and targeting Israeli soldiers operating in southern Lebanon.
The army "eliminated the members" of these cells, he added, without specifying where the attacks were thwarted. According to reports in the Israeli press, the 91st Division operates in the eastern sector of the border area. Adraee also said that the 91st Division found in its operational area "an underground depot containing mortar shells" as well as anti-tank missiles, rifles, and RPG launchers.
In another post, he emphasized that forces from the Egoz unit had "destroyed about 70 Hezbollah infrastructures in the Bint Jbeil area in the space of one minute." He noted that these demolitions took place as part of its "intensified ground operation in southern Lebanon" and posted a video showing the demolition of an entire neighborhood in Ainata, next to Bint Jbeil.
The Egoz unit is an elite commando specialized in anti-guerrilla operations, special reconnaissance, and direct action. According to Adraee, these demolitions took place after operations in Ainata, during which the Israeli army "discovered RPG launchers, Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, improvised explosive devices, an anti-aircraft missile, and other military equipment" and killed "several Hezbollah fighters."
