Flydubai, the second-largest airline in the emirate of Dubai after Emirates, announced in a statement sent to its partners that it will resume its flights to Lebanon on April 18, after they were suspended in the wake of the war launched on Feb. 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran.
This is the fourth major airline to announce its return to Beirut, following Royal Jordanian, Qatar Airways, and Iraqi Airways, the latter also set to resume its flights on April 18.
Since Feb. 28, the date of the first U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, many airlines have canceled their flights in the region, especially to and from Lebanon.
The airspace over Lebanon, however, has remained open, and the national carrier, Middle East Airlines, continued to operate its flights. Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport (RHIA), the country’s only airport, has remained open.
