BEIRUT — Hezbollah claimed responsibility, overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, for launching rockets at 2:30 a.m. at the Israeli village of Manara, located close to the Blue Line, opposite Lebanon's eastern sector in the south. This attack — the first claimed by Hezbollah since the previous night — is described as "a response to the enemy's violation of the cease-fire agreement" following Wednesday's massive Israeli strikes. "This response will continue until the Israeli-American aggression against our country and our people ceases," the militia party threatened.
Hezbollah had suspended its attacks against northern Israel after the announcement of a cease-fire between Iran and the United States, even though Tel Aviv maintained that Lebanon was not part of the agreement. The Lebanon front had been explicitly mentioned by Islamabad, the mediator of the truce.
