BEIRUT— Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar met with security officials on Monday to review Lebanon’s overall security situation amid ongoing Israeli attacks and assess measures being implemented across the country, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The meeting was attended by Internal Security Forces Director General Maj. Gen. Raed Abdallah, as well as the head of the Intelligence Division, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Kobrosli.

Hajjar called for "tightening security measures to preserve the safety of citizens, taking all necessary precautions, and enhancing field coordination between the Internal Security Forces and the Lebanese Army on one hand, and with the municipalities on the other, ensuring rapid response to any emergency, strengthening proactive security to protect the lives of safe citizens across all regions, and preventing any attempts to destabilize the country."

The Minister also received a delegation from local officials from the Arqoub region. During the meeting, Hajjar was briefed on "the situation the region is suffering due to Israeli attacks and the needs of the residents who remain steadfast in their villages." Hajjar affirmed "his full solidarity with the people of Hasbaya, Arqoub, the border villages, and all towns in the southern districts," praising "their resilience and attachment to their land."

At the end of March, Hajjar had announced plans to strengthen the deployment of security forces across Lebanese territory, without specifying whether the measure would apply to certain regions. He had also said that despite the war ongoing since March 2, the number of incidents remained “within reasonable limits.”
