U.S. President Donald Trump is threatening to suspend military aid to Ukraine if Washington’s European allies do not join efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times reports, citing officials familiar with the discussions.
Dibil issues an SOS to the international community
The municipality of Dibil issued an appeal in the evening to “the international community, the United Nations, the Vatican, the U.S. ambassador, and all concerned countries,” urging them to “intervene immediately to stop the destruction” of their homes by the Israeli army and to “put an end to the suffering of residents.”
In a statement relayed by the state-run National News Agency (NNA), the municipality of Dibil (Bint Jbeil) condemned explosive attacks carried out by the Israeli army against homes, one month after the outbreak of the war.
“Dibil is a peaceful village with no connection to this war. Yet it is paying a heavy price in terms of its security and stability,” the statement said, lamenting the tragedies faced by residents of this Christian village opposed to the war with Israel, the attacks against its inhabitants, and the destruction of homes by the Israeli army using explosives.
“We have worked hard to build our homes, to secure our livelihoods and develop our village, and we refuse to stand by and watch their destruction helplessly. Enough is enough! We are a peaceful people who want to live with dignity. We feel that the state has abandoned us, but we will never give up on our homeland,” the statement added.
“We, the children of this village, affirm our right to life, weep for our future and that of our children, and reaffirm our attachment to our land as well as our desire to live in safety and peace,” the statement concluded.
Pezeshkian says in letter that Iran harbors no enmity towards ordinary Americans
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a letter addressed to the American people that his country harbors no enmity towards ordinary Americans, Press TV reported on Wednesday.
He said in his letter that portraying Iran as a threat was "neither consistent with historical reality nor with present-day observable facts."
Hezbollah claims further attacks against Israel early in the evening
Hezbollah said it launched a barrage of missiles at around 5:30 p.m. targeting the Aalayqa barracks in the occupied Syrian Golan.
It also reported rocket fire against Israeli soldiers at the “Calves Hill” site north of the Israeli locality of Kfar Yuval, in northern Israel.
The Shiite movement additionally claimed three rocket attacks on Metula and the kibbutzim of Kfar Giladi and Misgav Am.
Iran announces wave of attacks against Israel and US bases in the Middle East
The Iranian army announced in the evening that it had carried out a new wave of strikes against Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf, shortly before an expected speech by Donald Trump, AFP reports. The United States has not responded to these claims, nor have the concerned countries.
In a statement broadcast by state television, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesperson for Iran’s central military command, referred to a series of attacks against Israel, including the resort city of Eilat in the south and Tel Aviv, as well as against U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
A massive attack carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran on Feb. 28 triggered Tehran’s retaliation, sparking a war that has spread across several countries in the region.

Lebanon faces a major humanitarian crisis, says Fletcher
U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher, on a visit to Beirut, told LBCI that Lebanon is facing a major humanitarian crisis, with around 20% of the population displaced.
“We have launched an urgent appeal to secure more than 300 million dollars from the international community, of which one third has already been secured,” he said. “100 million dollars are on the way, and we are working with the government to determine the best ways to use them to save as many lives as possible.”
Iraq: Strike in northwestern Iraq killed 2 fighters from the former paramilitary coalition
A strike in northwestern Iraq killed two fighters from the former paramilitary coalition Hashed al-Shaabi on Wednesday, the alliance said, blaming the U.S. and Israel, according to AFP.
An official with the group told AFP there were "two dead and six wounded in a Zionist-American aggression" on a position in Tal Afar district in Nineveh Governorate, near the Syrian border.
The alliance is also known as the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), and is now part of Iraq's regular armed forces although it also contains pro-Iran factions.
Hezbollah attacks in the late afternoon
Hezbollah claimed multiple attacks against Israel and Israeli positions in Lebanon in the late afternoon. It said it targeted groups of Israeli soldiers in Bayyada (Sour) twice with rockets, and hit another soldier position using a suicide drone at the Deir Siryane school (Marjayoun).
The group also claimed a rocket attack on the city of Nahariya in Israel.
French Navy chief: No evidence that the Strait of Hormuz has been mined
The head of the French Navy said there is, at this stage, no evidence that the Strait of Hormuz has been mined, Reuters reports.
He said that a military framework would ultimately be needed to supervise the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, adding that France is working to bring several countries together politically to determine the conditions for a sustainable reopening. He also said the number of Chinese ships transiting the strait remains insufficient to restore normal traffic flows.
Strikes and artillery fire in south Lebanon
Explosions were heard in the eastern district of Khiam (Marjayoun), along with airstrikes, heavy artillery fire, helicopter overflights, and intense clashes in the town center, our correspondent in South Lebanon reports.
Airstrikes hit Taybeh (Marjayoun), Nabatieh Fawqa, Zawtar Sharqieh, Mayfadoun (Nabatieh), Safad al-Batikh, Rshaf, and Hadatha (Bint Jbeil), as well as Zrarieh (Saida), where one person (Abbas Ahmad Akhdar) was killed.
Israeli artillery also shelled Nabatieh Fawqa, Qalawieh (Bint Jbeil), Haniyeh, and Qleileh (Sour).
A drone struck the outskirts of Bint Jbeil hospital in the same district.
An Israeli strike kills three in Rashaya al-Foukhar
In Rashaya al-Foukhar (Hasbaya), near the Hasbani River, an airstrike killed three people, according to our correspondent in south Lebanon. The bodies were recovered near the cemetery by the Lebanese Red Cross.

Hezbollah claims new attacks
Hezbollah has claimed a series of rocket fire toward Israeli cities or military positions in Lebanon, between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.
It targeted Israeli cities and localities with rockets, including Kiryat Shmona (multiple times), Avivim (a group of soldiers), Kabri, and Nahariya.
It also targeted Israeli positions in Lebanon with rockets, including the Jneijel hill in Qantara, in Ainata, Khallet al Hajjeh in Aitaroun, Qouzah, Qantara, and Odaisseh.
The Shiite movement also announced it had targeted newly established Israeli positions in Markaba and Robb Thalathin with rocket salvos.
Hezbollah said its fighters intercepted an Israeli aircraft at 3 p.m. in the skies over Jwayya using a surface-to-air missile. It also said it directly hit an Israeli helicopter on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the skies over Yaroun with two surface-to-air missiles.”
Iran denies it requested a cease-fire, as Trump claims
Iran denied U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that Tehran had asked for a cease-fire, AFP reported.
"Trump's statements about Iran's request for a ceasefire are false and baseless," foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei was quoted as saying.
Update on the situation in south Lebanon
An Israeli strike on the town of Ramadieh killed four people, in a revised toll, while strikes targeting Zrarieh (Saida) left several wounded who were transferred to hospital.
An Israeli drone strike on a car killed two people in Bint Jbeil.
A motorcycle was hit by a missile fired from an Israeli drone in Wadi Jilo (Sour), critically injuring the rider. The Israeli air force also carried out two additional strikes on Wadi Jilo.
Air raids targeted the Hmeila area in Houmin, as well as the outskirts of Zawtar Gharbieh (Nabatieh).
The Israeli army also destroyed several houses with explosives on the outskirts of Dibil and Aita al-Shaab (Bint Jbeil). In the same district, Israeli artillery shelled Braasheet and Safad al-Batikh.
A drone also carried out a strike in Sawaneh (Marjayoun).
One month into Israeli offensive, 1,318 killed in Lebanon
Israel’s war on Lebanon since March 2 has killed 1,318 people and wounded 3,935.
Among them, 125 children have been killed and 429 injured, according to the Health Ministry.
Iran says Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to its 'enemies'
The Revolutionary Guards, the Islamic Republic’s ideological army, said the strategic Strait of Hormuz would remain closed to the country’s “enemies,” after Donald Trump said he would only consider a ceasefire with Iran if it were reopened, AFP reports.
“The situation in the Strait of Hormuz is … completely under the control of the Guards’ naval forces, and this strait will not be opened to the enemies of this nation despite the ridiculous posturing of the U.S. president,” they warned in a statement carried by state television.

Donald Trump said on his Truth Social platform that Iran had requested a cease-fire, but indicated he would only consider halting hostilities after the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, AFP reports.
"Iran's president has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!,” the U.S. president added.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards say tanker hit in Gulf is Israeli
The Revolutionary Guards, the Islamic Republic’s ideological army, said they had struck a tanker in the Gulf, claiming it was Israeli, AFP reports.
“A tanker belonging to the Zionist regime ... , under the commercial name Aqua 1, in the central Gulf, was precisely targeted ... and is currently on fire,” the Guards said in a statement carried by state television.
Qatar had earlier said the tanker belonged to QatarEnergy and had been hit in its territorial waters by missiles fired from Iran.
UAE: new entry restrictions for Iranians
Iranians are no longer permitted to enter the United Arab Emirates, except for those meeting certain criteria, airlines said on Wednesday, whilst travel agencies report a high risk of visa applications being rejected.
“Iranian nationals are not permitted to enter the country or transit through it,” Emirates, the country’s leading airline, and Flydubai now state on their websites.
According to a list published on both websites, however, this ban does not apply to residents of the Emirates married to Emiratis, children whose mother is Emirati, or a long list of unspecified exceptions: “athletes, bank executives, doctors, families, engineers, investors, senior managers or traders.”
Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Tehran hit by strikes
The Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Tehran has been damaged by strikes that caused no casualties, the Russian Embassy in Iran has announced.
“On April 1, two strikes took place near St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Tehran. The main building, accommodation and several service buildings were damaged. There were no casualties,” the embassy wrote on its X account.
The diplomatic mission posted photos via the same channel showing a partially collapsed ceiling, debris on the ground and blown-out windows.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated in a lengthy post on his X and Facebook accounts that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government had thwarted the Iranian regime’s “threats of extermination” but could not promise that there would be no further war in the future.
“Today, we can say: we have eliminated the threat of annihilation. We still have bitter and cruel enemies, but they have been dealt a serious blow,” he said, stressing, however, that he could not promise “that this will be ‘the last war.’”
French UNIFIL peacekeepers subjected to ‘unacceptable intimidation,’ says Rufo
French peacekeepers deployed in Lebanon have been the target of “absolutely unacceptable intimidation,” stated Alice Rufo, Minister of State for the Armed Forces, whilst, according to diplomats quoted by Reuters, three incidents took place on March 28 between French forces and the Israeli army in southern Lebanon.
UNIFIL is deployed throughout the area south of the Litani River, which Tel Aviv has stated it wishes to occupy, even after the end of the ongoing war with Hezbollah.
With three Indonesian peacekeepers having been killed in explosions since Sunday, Rufo “expressed our solidarity with the Indonesians. I wish to send a message of solidarity to our soldiers, who have been the target of totally unacceptable intimidation,” Alice Rufo stated at the “War & Peace” conference in Paris, one day after her return from Lebanon.

Strikes on Jnah: Israeli army claims to have killed ‘Hezbollah’s Southern Front commander’
The Israeli army has stated that, during its strikes on Beirut – in which it fired three missiles from a warship on the Jnah district just south of Beirut – it killed "Hezbollah’s Southern Front commander," Youssef Ismail Hashem.
The Southern Front is considered to be “the Hezbollah unit responsible for conducting operations against Israel and fighting Israeli forces in southern Lebanon,” according to a statement issued by the army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee.
According to the statement, Hashem reportedly had “more than 40 years’ experience” within the party, notably at the head of various regional units in the south (the Nasr, Aziz and Badr units) and is said to have “taken command of the southern front following the death of Ali Karaki,” who was killed in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sept. 27, 2024, the same day Hassan Nasrallah was killed.

Israeli-US strikes on steel complexes in Iran
U.S.-Israeli strikes caused significant damage to targeted steel complexes in central and south-western, according to the Iranian news agency Fars.
“According to initial reports, massive attacks took place, causing significant damage and destroying production units” at the complex belonging to the Mobarakeh Steel Company, one of the country’s largest, located in Isfahan province (central Iran), Fars stated, citing a company statement.

Khamenei ‘confident’ that Naim Qassem will be able to ‘thwart Israel’s plans’
Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, sent a message yesterday evening to Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, in which he expressed confidence that he would be able to “thwart the plans” of Israel, which has been bombing Lebanon and invading its South relentlessly since March 2.
In his message, Khamenei noted that Qassem is leading the party at “a pivotal moment in the history of the resistance” against Israel. He nevertheless expressed his “confidence” in Qassem’s “wisdom, intelligence, and courage” to “thwart the plans” of Israel and “restore pride and prosperity to the Lebanese people.”
Since the start of the war between Hezbollah and Israel, Israeli strikes have killed nearly 1,300 people in Lebanon, including more than 120 children, and Israel is openly boasting about its plan to occupy the entire area south of the Litani River.

Kuwait National Bank closes amid Iranian threats
Kuwait National Bank, one of the country’s leading banks, will close its headquarters in the capital for two days on Wednesday and Thursday due to Iranian attacks, it said in a statement carried by the official news agency.
The measure was taken for “the safety of all and the continuity of operations” at the bank, it said.
The bank has also closed one of its branches in the Subhan industrial zone, which is also home to security and government buildings and the international airport, which has already been struck several times since the start of the conflict.
The airport had been targeted earlier in the day by an Iranian drone attack, according to the civil aviation authority, causing a major fire in fuel tanks.
Lebanese Army says it will keep troops in villages of southern Lebanon from which it withdrew on Tuesday
In the wake of its withdrawal from several border towns in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Army has stated that it will instead keep its troops in these villages.
“Following the escalation of Israeli aggression against Lebanon, particularly in areas experiencing enemy incursions around border towns, which has led to the encirclement of deployed army units, their isolation and the cutting off of their supply lines, the army has carried out a redeployment and repositioning operation involving a number of these units,” the army stated in a communiqué.
The army command “will continue to stand by the residents to the extent of available resources, maintaining a group of soldiers in these localities,” it assured.

Qatar Energy oil tanker hit by missile
A Qatar Energy oil tanker has been hit by a missile strike in Qatari territorial waters, authorities have said, blaming Iran for the attack.
Qatar was targeted by three missiles “launched from Iran”, the Ministry of Defense wrote on X, noting that two of them had been intercepted but that the third had “struck an oil tanker chartered by Qatar Energy." The 21 people on board were evacuated safely, it added.
In a statement, Qatar Energy clarified that the attack had taken place in the northern part of the country’s territorial waters and had not caused any “environmental impact.”
Update on the situation in southern Lebanon
The Israeli air force carried out an air strike on Debbine (Marjayoun), causing injuries, according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
At dawn, the Israeli army targeted a center belonging to the Islamic Health Committee, affiliated with Hezbollah, in Mansouri (Sour), causing five minor injuries and destroying the committee’s vehicles parked at the site.
Houthis claim responsibility for third missile attack on Israel
The Houthis have claimed responsibility for their third missile attack on Israel, in a statement from their spokesperson published on Telegram.
Having entered the war on Saturday, they claim to have targeted “sensitive targets” in the south of the country.
“The operation was conducted jointly with our brothers” in Iran and Hezbollah, and “achieved its objectives,” they added.
Iranian missiles: 14 injured in Israel, according to emergency services
Israeli emergency services announced that fourteen people have been injured in Israel, following a new series of Iranian missile strikes.
Emergency services “are providing medical care and evacuating 14 injured people to hospitals, including an 11-year-old girl in a serious condition with shrapnel wounds to her limbs, a 36-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy ... with shrapnel wounds, and 11 people with minor injuries”, said Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s equivalent of the Red Cross, in a statement.
The MDA did not specify where these people were injured. The Israeli police, for their part, said they had received reports of “falling weapon parts and ammunition” in the Tel Aviv area and in the center of the country.
Between 6:20 and 9 a.m., the Israeli army announced that it had detected three missile launches towards Israel from Iran, and another from Yemen.
Israel claims to have killed senior official of the IRGC’s ‘Lebanon Corps’ in Iran
The Israeli army stated this morning that it had, the previous day, killed in a strike on central Iran the “head of the engineering branch of the Lebanon Corps under the Quds Force” of the Revolutionary Guards, who was responsible in particular for the development of tunnels for Hezbollah.
Mehdi Vafaei, an engineer who headed the “Lebanon Corps” for 20 years, is said to have overseen projects linked in particular to the development of underground tunnels in Lebanon and Syria.

On Saturday, the Houthis claimed responsibility for two attacks against Israel within a few hours, marking the entry of the group into the regional war.
Bangladeshi national killed by missile debris in the UAE
A Bangladeshi national has been killed by missile debris following the interception of a drone attack in the United Arab Emirates, the country’s official news agency has reported, citing local authorities.
The incident occurred in the emirate of Fujairah, near the Strait of Hormuz, which has already been hit several times since Iran began firing missiles and drones daily at Gulf states in retaliation for the U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iran.

Hezbollah claimed to have targeted, shortly after midnight, the “Yodfat military industries company” east of Haifa, as part of its “Khaybar 2 Operation."
It also targeted the Mahanaim camp, east of Safad, with a “barrage of rockets.”
'Violent clashes' between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli troops overnight in southern Lebanon
Overnight, ground fighting appeared to be concentrated, according to reports from our correspondent and claims by Hezbollah, along the coastline near Shamaa (Sour) and in the eastern sector, at Khiam and along the Taybeh-Qantara road.
Our correspondent reports in particular “violent clashes” between Hezbollah and Israeli troops on the outskirts of the fortress, involving light and medium weapons, rockets, and artillery.
The fighting was confirmed by Hezbollah, which stated that at 1.50 am, on the outskirts of the fortress, it had “hit a military vehicle with a guided missile.”
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at around 2 am on Israeli army soldiers and vehicles in Qantara (Marjayoun).
This area was overflown by drones, and artillery fire and the sounds of clashes involving medium-caliber weapons were heard there, according to our correspondent.
Further east, in the district of Hasbaya, Israeli soldiers occupied positions on Lebanese territory in an area near Shebaa and fired three artillery shells from that position towards the outskirts of the town before later withdrawing.
The Israeli army also carried out a major explosion on the outskirts of Khiam (Marjayoun), in the area under its control.
Nearly 30 people killed in southern Lebanon on Tuesday
Overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, Israel pummeled southern Lebanon with airstrikes, striking in turn Harouf and Doueir (Nabatieh), Rmedieh (Sour), and the heights of Mount Rihan (Jezzine), according to information from our correspondent in the region.
Artillery fire also targeted Ghandourieh and Burj Qalaouieh (Bint Jbeil).
On Wednesday morning, the Israel fired several missiles at an area between Bnaafoul (Saida) and Houmin Tahta (Nabatieh).
According to our correspondent’s tally, over the course of Tuesday and the following 24 hours, Israel struck 32 towns in the south, drones carried out 14 strikes on 14 villages, and Israel launched artillery fire towards 23 towns.
These attacks killed a total 29 people in the South.
A series of Israeli strikes on Sohmor (Western Bekaa) at dawn kill 4 people
At least four Israeli strikes at dawn on Sohmor, in the Western Bekaa, according to our local correspondent killed at least four people.
Sohmor and several other villages in the region had been issued with forced evacuation orders by the Israeli army on Monday evening, calling on residents in the area to head north, and has since carried out several strikes there. Israel appears to be seeking to cut off this southern region.
Night-time airstrike on Hadath, in the southern suburbs of Beirut
Meanwhile, at around 3am, another Israeli airstrike targeted the Hadath neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut, according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA). The Israeli army did not immediately comment on this further strike.
Israeli strikes Tuesday night on Jnah in southern suburbs of Beirut, and Khalde, kill 7
The Lebanese Health Ministry affirmed Wednesday that Israeli strikes on Jnah, in Beirut's southern suburbs, and on Khalde, just south of Beirut, killed at least seven people and injured over 20 others.
The Health Ministry said the Israeli air strike on Jnah killed at least five people and wounded 21 others. A Lebanese security source said four parked cars were targeted.
Another strike that targeted a vehicle in Khalde killed two people and wounded three, the Health Ministry said in a separate statement.
Israel claimed responsibility for both strikes, claiming it targeted "senior Hezbollah members."
