The Iranian military said Saturday it had targeted a warehouse of Ukrainian anti-drone systems in the United Arab Emirates, claiming it was used to support U.S. forces, while Ukraine denied the claim.
“While the hideouts of American commanders and soldiers in Dubai were targeted … a warehouse of Ukrainian anti-drone systems located in Dubai and intended to assist the U.S. military … was targeted and destroyed,” Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya joint command center said in a statement broadcast on state television.
“This is a lie. We officially deny this information. The Iranian regime often conducts these types of disinformation operations, and in this it is no different from the Russians,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhy said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday during a visit to the United Arab Emirates that the two countries had agreed to cooperate on defense issues amid ongoing Iranian drone strikes across the region.
Zelensky’s surprise visit came a day after a defense agreement between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia, signed as Gulf countries face Iranian drone and missile attacks launched by Tehran in retaliation for U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, ongoing since Feb. 28.
