Fires in an industrial area of the United Arab Emirates injured five people Saturday after Iranian missile and drone attacks, authorities said.
“The UAE’s air defense and fighter jets are responding to missiles and drones launched from Iran,” the Emirati Defense Ministry said in a post on X.
The Abu Dhabi government said two fires in the Khalifa Industrial Zone, along the emirate’s coast, were caused by debris from the “successful interception” of a ballistic missile.
“Authorities confirm that this incident resulted in five Indian nationals being injured, with injuries ranging from moderate to minor,” the statement said.
A close U.S. ally and one of the few Arab countries to have normalized relations with Israel, the United Arab Emirates has been a target of missiles and drones launched by Iran toward its Gulf neighbors since the war began Feb. 28.
