Donald Trump said Friday that the United States may not come to NATO’s aid if needed, during a business forum in Miami.
"They just simply weren’t there," the American president said, referring to the unanswered U.S. request for military support from its allies to secure the Strait of Hormuz.
"We spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year on NATO, hundreds of billions, to protect them, and we would have always been there for them, but now, given their actions, I guess we don’t have to be there anymore, right?" he said.
