For the second night in a row, the southern suburbs of Beirut were not bombed during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
On Saturday, southern Lebanon was the scene of very violent clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah on several fronts, mainly in Khiam and Taybeh in the Marjayoun district, but also in Naqoura in the Sour district. By early evening, Hezbollah had claimed about 30 operations against Israel, a sign of the sustained intensity of the fighting and attacks on Israeli territory. Israel, for its part, continued its strikes on southern Lebanon.
. Explosions heard in Jerusalem
Several detonations were heard in Jerusalem on Sunday by AFP journalists, after the Israeli army warned of Iranian missile fire toward central Israel. "At this stage, no injuries have been reported," said the Magen David Adom paramedics, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross.
. Trump ultimatum to Iran to reopen the Hormuz Strait and the Iranian response
Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran on Saturday night: the United States will destroy Iran's power plants if the Islamic Republic does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic within 48 hours. "If Iran does not TOTALLY, WITHOUT ANY THREAT, reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 HOURS from this very moment, the United States of America will strike and destroy its various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE LARGEST!" the American president wrote on his Truth Social platform.
. And the Iranian response: threat of strikes against key infrastructure
Iran responded to this ultimatum without delay: if Washington acts on its threat, the Iranian military will then target "energy, information technology, and water desalination infrastructures" in the region.
. Drone attack on a military base in Iraq
The official Iranian news agency Irna reported Sunday that a drone attack targeted a military base near Baghdad airport in Iraq. This base "was once again the target of drone strikes," Irna wrote, referring to a military complex previously used by the U.S. military.
. Attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates
"The United Arab Emirates' air defenses are currently responding to missile and drone threats from Iran," the Ministry of Defense said on X. It warned the public that the "noises heard are the result of the interception" of the attacks.
. Three missiles target the Riyadh region
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense said three ballistic missiles targeted the Riyadh region. "One missile was intercepted, while the other two fell in an uninhabited area," the ministry wrote on X, also reporting the interception of several drones over the country since midnight Sunday.
. Explosion near a bulk carrier
The explosion of an "unknown projectile" was reported Sunday very close to a bulk carrier off the coast of the United Arab Emirates in the Gulf, the British maritime agency UKMTO said. The entire crew is safe, according to UKMTO, which specified that the explosion occurred 15 nautical miles (about 28 kilometers) north of the Emirati city of Sharjah, not far from the Strait of Hormuz.
. Israeli strikes in the heart of Tehran
The Israeli army said it was carrying out strikes in central Tehran, just hours after two destructive Iranian attacks in southern Israel. The army "is currently carrying out strikes on the Iranian terrorist regime in the heart of Tehran," it said in a brief statement.
. Two Iranian missiles hit Israel, over a hundred injured
Two Iranian missiles struck on Saturday night in the cities of Dimona and Arad, in southern Israel, injuring more than a hundred people and causing severe material damage. Dimona is known for housing a strategic nuclear research center, located about five kilometers from the impact site.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged "a very difficult evening in the battle for our future."
The strike on Dimona is a "response" to an attack on Iran's Natanz nuclear site, according to Iranian state television. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called for "maximum military restraint," saying it "has not received any indication of potential damage to the Negev Nuclear Research Center."
. Riyadh orders the departure of the Iranian military attaché
Saudi Arabia has ordered an Iranian diplomat and three members of his team to leave the country, as the kingdom is targeted, like other Gulf monarchies, by Iranian strikes in retaliation for Israeli-American attacks. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized "repeated Iranian attacks" and announced it had "decided to declare persona non grata the military attaché of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as three members of the embassy's military mission."
