BEIRUT — On Saturday, MP Ali Ammar (Hezbollah) accused the Ukrainian Embassy in Lebanon of "harboring an Israeli Mossad agent on its premises and trying to exfiltrate him while he is being sought by the judiciary," according to a statement released by the militia-party. On the same day, Iranian MP Ebrahim Azizi, chair of the parliamentary National Security Committee, said on X that Ukraine had become a legitimate target for Tehran after providing aid to Israel.
"The Ukrainian Embassy in Lebanon hid a criminal, an Israeli Mossad agent, on its premises, and attempted to facilitate his departure from Lebanon despite knowing he is wanted by the Lebanese judiciary and is the subject of arrest warrants for his involvement in planning and carrying out terrorist operations in Lebanon. He is also sought for his role in running a cell during the war with the Israeli enemy in 2024, whose mission was to transmit sensitive security information and locate facilities belonging to Hezbollah in the southern suburb," the Shiite MP said.
The lawmaker considers this "a dangerous precedent and a major political and diplomatic scandal." He also denounced "a disregard for Lebanon's sovereignty and blatant indifference toward Lebanese blood and their national security," noting that “the agent assisted the Israeli enemy in attacking the Lebanese, their land, their homeland, their security and in shedding their blood.”
"Any attempt to protect him, smuggle him out secretly or provide him with diplomatic cover is considered a hostile act against Lebanon and its people, an overt challenge to the state’s security and military apparatus, as well as complicity – if not collaboration – with the Israeli enemy against Lebanon and its people," the Hezbollah MP insisted.
Mr. Ammar called on the Lebanese state, through all its relevant institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, security services, and competent judicial authorities, to act immediately and firmly, without hesitation, to prevent this agent from escaping and to take all necessary legal measures to compel the Ukrainian Embassy to hand him over to Lebanese justice, "without yielding to any blackmail or external pressure."
The name of this alleged agent has been circulating on social media. According to InfoSudLiban’s X page, his name is Khaled al-Aida, who is said to be the head of the cell in which Mohammad Saleh operated. Saleh was responsible for providing logistical information that contributed to the death of Hezbollah's former number one, Hassan Nasrallah, killed by Israel in 2024, as well as intelligence on Hezbollah installations in Beirut’s southern suburbs. According The Cradle.com website, Khaled al-Aida, a Palestinian-Syrian who holds Ukrainian nationality, was involved in bombings and assassinations carried out in Lebanon between 2024 and 2025.
