BEIRUT — Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed Wednesday the need to ensure fuel oil supplies to displacement shelters and villages in southern Lebanon during the Cabinet's daily ministerial meeting, in place since the Israeli offensive on Lebanon escalated on March 2.

Information Minister Paul Morcos said after the meeting that fuel supply efforts are being carried out in coordination with the ministers of Energy and Economy, according to the state-run National News Agency.

Morcos said each minister presented actions and efforts related to their respective ministry. Cabinet later visited the operations room at the Grand Serail to review relief efforts' progress as well as mechanisms in place for intervention and assistance.

They were also briefed on data related to age groups, gender distribution and geographic location, Morcos said.

The minister added that 39 reception centers are currently hosting residents displaced by Israeli attacks and threats, while more than 100 additional centers could be opened if necessary. Information related to accommodation centers is available here.

In an interview Sunday with L'Orient-Le Jour, Salam acknowledged that "it took several days to recalibrate our preparations to the realities of the war," while saying the government is now "in a better position to provide a dignified place of refuge for every individual."

More than 750,000 people have been displaced in Lebanon by Israel since early March and have registered on the online platform set up by authorities during the first days of the war.

Around 122,600 people are currently staying in collective shelters, representing about 31,500 families in 4,580 accommodation centers.

In its latest update, the Health Ministry said Tuesday night that Israeli attacks have killed 570 people in Lebanon in 10 days.
