BEIRUT — A building and Élysée College in Hazmieh, southeast of Beirut, were evacuated Wednesday morning after a suspicious call targeting members of the Zeaiter family inside the building, according to a nearby resident.
The Lebanese Army's intelligence services said it was a hoax, according to the same source.
On Tuesday, several similar calls were made in Kesrouan, causing panic. Local authorities referred to “false alarms” intended to spread “panic,” while in Zouk Mosbeh, a “fake news” incident triggered anxiety among the population.
These false alarms come as the Israeli army regularly posts on its social media accounts urging residents to evacuate neighborhoods or towns in the South, the southern suburbs of Beirut or the Bekaa, ahead of bombardments.
