The Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, announced that the army killed Hassan Salameh, commander of Hezbollah's Nasr unit, in an airstrike on Jwayya, in the Sour district, on Sunday.
Adraee described the fighter as "a Hezbollah veteran who held a series of positions within the organization," including commander of the Khiam sector and deputy commander of operations for the Nasr unit. Salameh took command of the unit after the assassination of his predecessor, Abu Taleb, in June 2024, the spokesperson said.
"For years, Hassan Salameh led intensive actions against the State of Israel and orchestrated numerous terrorist plots targeting Israeli citizens," Adraee added. He also said that the Nasr unit is one of three units responsible for Hezbollah's activities in southern Lebanon.
According to Eye on Hezbollah, the Nasr unit is a strategic force responsible for conducting direct combat operations. Its name, which means "victory" in Arabic, refers to a unit equipped with advanced weaponry that specializes in precision strikes and offensive maneuvers.
