Foreign Minister Joe Rajji said Sunday that "Hezbollah has once again ignored Lebanon's higher interests to serve foreign agendas, by going so far as to defend Iran and dragging Lebanon into a war that does not concern it, which has led to brutal Israeli military operations against several Lebanese regions."

He emphasized that "Hezbollah makes its decisions in isolation, without regard for the state and its official institutions," adding that "the Lebanese government and people are not responsible for these acts and their consequences."

Rajji was speaking during an exceptional meeting of the Arab League dedicated to condemning the Iranian attacks on Gulf states, as well as against Jordan and Iraq. These Iranian reprisals began after the American-Israeli strike on that country on Feb. 28.

Rajji expressed "Lebanon's solidarity with all these countries and their peoples," assuring that it stood by their side "against anything that threatens their security and stability."

The minister finally explained the circumstances around the government's decision on Monday, March 2, which prohibited Hezbollah's activities and ordered it to hand over its weapons to the state without delay, after the first rockets were fired toward northern Israel on the night of March 1 to 2. A decision that has not prevented the party from continuing its attacks, despite significant population displacements and rising human casualties.
