The ambassadors of several countries, including Russia, expressed to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun their support for the recent decision taken Monday by the government, which banned all "military and security actions" by Hezbollah.

This decision came just a few hours after the party fired rockets at Israel in support of Iran, following a large-scale Israeli military operation that had continued for a third day.

In this context, Aoun received Russian Ambassador Aleksander Rudakov on Wednesday, who conveyed to him "his country's support for the recent sovereign decisions of the Lebanese government, within the framework of Russia's position supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of Lebanon, based on the principles of non-interference by outside parties and the resolution of all internal disputes through comprehensive national dialogue with the participation of all political factions without exception," according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA).

Meanwhile, Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Marcelli affirmed to Joseph Aoun his country’s support for Lebanon under the current circumstances, Italy’s backing of the Lebanese government’s recent position, and its efforts to quickly end Israeli attacks.

The chargé d'affaires of the Spanish embassy, José Luis González García, made a similar statement of support, reiterating Spain’s position of jointly condemning Israeli attacks against Lebanon and the attacks launched by Hezbollah, which have continued since Monday.

The president also received a phone call from the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who affirmed the Vatican's support for Lebanon in these difficult days and its willingness to help ease the suffering of the Lebanese people.

Aoun responded by expressing his gratitude and appreciation for Pope Leo XIV's positions regarding Lebanon and the Lebanese people.

These messages of solidarity come as Lebanon enters its third day of war between Hezbollah and Israel, which began two days after the outbreak of a regional conflict pitting, on one side, the United States and Israel, and on the other, Iran.
