Public and private schools, as well as technical high schools will remain closed this week, Education Minister Rima Karameh announced in a statement.
She expressed appreciation to public high school principals for "swiftly accommodating displaced families in their facilities," adding that a remote learning plan would be put in place starting Monday in coordination with the Center for Educational Research and Development (CRDP).
The minister recommended that private schools remain closed until the end of this week, pending further announcements from the ministry.
As for higher education institutions, including private universities and the Lebanese University, the statement said "they will continue in-person instruction, except for those located in high-risk areas."
Since Hezbollah opened a new front against Israel overnight Sunday into Monday, Israeli strikes have targeted several regions across Lebanon, forcing more than 58,000 people to flee to safer areas. Thousands are now sheltering in public schools that have opened their doors to accommodate them.
