BEIRUT — Industry Minister, Joe Issa al-Khoury, said that the ministry will work to secure fuel for all factories, noting that a "joint crisis cell has been formed to ensure food and pharmaceutical security," according to the state-run National News Agency.
Khoury's comments were delivered in at a joint press conference with the president of the Industrialists’ Association and the unions of Food Industry and Pharmaceutical Factory Owners.
He also assured: "We have at least three months of pharmaceutical stock, eight months of raw materials for medicines, and four months of stock in the food industry sector."
"We are working to prevent any shortages, disruptions or exploitation," Khoury added.
Earlier on Sunday, Lebanon's Agriculture Ministry also affirmed the continued availability of plant and animal agricultural products in Lebanese markets in a normal and stable manner.
The reassurances came a day after the United States and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory attacks by Tehran on Israel and Gulf countries and raising concerns of a prolonged regional conflict.
