Qatar's emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and Saudi Arabia's de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Saturday called for an end to the escalation in the Middle East, following a U.S.-Iranian attack on Iran that triggered retaliatory strikes.
During a phone call, "both parties emphasized the need for an immediate halt to any actions leading to escalation and a return to the negotiating table in order to preserve regional security and avoid sliding toward broader confrontations," the Qatari emir's office said in a statement.
