Israeli army announces 'large-scale reinforcement' of its forces on all fronts

The Israeli army announced Saturday a “large-scale reinforcement” of its forces on all fronts following the launch of an attack on Iran carried out in coordination with the United States.

The Operations Directorate “has begun a broad reinforcement of ground forces across all sectors and regional commands [covering Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories], as well as the reinforcement and deployment of special forces, as part of heightened readiness for various offensive and defensive scenarios,” the army said in a statement.

“Significant reinforcements will also be deployed within the Air Force and Navy, alongside the strengthening of overall firepower capabilities,” it added. The army “hopes to mobilize 70,000 reservists in the coming days,” according to an Israeli official cited by Reuters.

“Our goal is to weaken Iranian capabilities and eliminate the existential threats facing Israel,” the official said. “Israel continues to carry out strikes against Iran. We have targeted key Iranian figures involved in the plan to destroy Israel. We are still assessing the effectiveness of the initial strikes,” he added.
