BEIRUT — One person was wounded in an exchange of gunfire in al-Bustan al-Yahudi, in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Saida, amid a family-related dispute, L'Orient Today's correspondent in the South reported.

Palestinian security forces deployed in the area to stop the clashes and restore calm, our correspondent continued. The perpetrators are members of the Palestinian National Security Forces and the Fatah movement.

Camp residents called for the intervention of the Joint Palestinian Security Force to contain the situation and maintain order.

Armed clashes are common in Ain al-Hilweh, Lebanon’s largest camp, where fragile balances and multiple opposing factions coexist, alongside Islamist groups near the camp's outskirts that only the Hamas movement can reach. In early September, a major family dispute erupted, killing two and injuring several others.

These incidents come as the disarmament of non-state actors in Lebanon, along with Palestinian camps in Lebanon, is being pushed by the Lebanese state and the international community.
