The Syrian army announced Saturday morning that it had taken control of the city of Deir Hafer, east of Aleppo, which Kurdish forces agreed to evacuate the previous day following recent clashes in the region of northern Syria.
In a statement broadcast on state television, the army said it had established “total military control” over Deir Hafer, while an AFP correspondent reported that troops were being deployed throughout the city.
